Trading Chaos: Maximize Profits with Proven Technical Techniques 2nd edition

How to trade the markets by integrating Chaos Theory with the market sentiment? In the first edition of “Trading Chaos”, seasoned trader and psychologist Bill Williams detailed the potential of Chaos Theory – which seeks to make the unpredictable understandable – in trading and it revolutionized financial decision-making. The second edition of “Trading Chaos” is a cutting-edge book that combines trading psychology and Chaos Theory and its particular effect on the markets. By examining both of these facets in relation to the current market, readers will have the best of all possible worlds when trading. Bill Williams, Ph.D., CTA (Solana Beach, CA), is President of, a leader in the field of education for traders and investors. Justine Gregory-Williams (Solana Beach, CA) is President of the Profitunity Trading Group and a full-time trader.
Published in 1995, the bestselling first edition of Trading Chaos provided readers with the most practical and comprehensive guide for applying chaos theory to the real world of trading and investing. But today, the markets are different than they were even a few years ago. So with fresh research in hand, coauthors Bill Williams and Justine Gregory-Williams have updated their profitable methods and provide new techniques to help you take profits from the markets.

Trading Chaos, Second Edition will not only show you how to anticipate, recognize, and react to impending bull and bear market conditions, it will also introduce you to the latest findings in physics and psychology as applied to various markets–stock, bond, futures, indexes, and many others.

The first portion of this book is devoted to understanding how the rewards you’ll acquire in trading and investing are determined by what is happening inside of you. By digging through some very interesting and deep psychological principles, you can become a profitable “trade/vector”–using technical techniques for good short-term entries and exits, but also holding on to long-term investments when the opportunity presents itself. Trading Chaos, Second Edition will help you build a solid psychological foundation before you enter the markets.

After you’ve learned how to gain an inner analytic edge, the authors will show you how the application of self-knowledge will improve your bottom line. Through numerous charts, checklists, and examples, you’ll be introduced to proven techniques that can make the unpredictable understandable and make your journey into the markets more profitable. You’ll learn how to:

• Sharpen entries and exits and reduce whiplashes with the powerful “Alligator” indicator
• Get into a new trend very early with proper use of the “First Wise Man”
• Add on aggressively after your first entry using the “Second Wise Man” with the help of the Awesome Oscillator (AO)
• Make fractal breakout trades with the “Third Wise Man”–these almost guarantee profitable follow-through on a trade.

In this early part of the twenty-first century, you have a choice to either be a part of the last generation of traders and investors using linear (ineffective) techniques or the first generation using effective nonlinear (chaotic) techniques. By reading the Second Edition of Trading Chaos, you’ll learn how you can take your trading skills to the next level and make steady profits in any market.

Reviews about the ebook:

  • Augustus:
In the beginning, this was very abnormal for me and I was resistant to the change in thinking. But, now I understand the necessary changes to be the best trader that I can be. Thank you, Bill and Justine, for taking the time to produce this material. I recommend the Trading Chaos ebook and method to all. Awesome!
  • Bob:
Fantastic education for trading. Justine uses Bill’s (her father) Chaos education and helps us apply the trading method that made her father a very wealthy man. I wish I would have found Bill and Justine when I started trading 20 years ago. I could have retired by now.
If a person really wants to have a method to trade it is worth ready many times.
If you understand these concepts you will be a good or great trader.
  • Michael Harston:
The first time reading the Trading Chaos ebook I started using the Alligator indicator and started making money in my trading. It was simple and easy to do and also do not forget to train your mind in the process he talks about.
  • M K:
The actual trading methodology is not really of interest to me. As a matter of fact, it’s ironic that in the first half of the book statements such as “there is no magic system” and “all mechanical systems will fail” are made, then in the second half of the book a rather mechanical trading system that is referred to as “automagic” is described.I suppose for a beginning trader looking for some kind of method to employ it’s not a bad one to pursue. Allow me to suggest that the second half of the book should be given perhaps 10% of your consideration while the first half should be given 90%.The first half of the Trading Chaos ebook is revolutionary and makes it a classic. It should be removed and marketed separately. In fact, I like your chances of success better if you only read the first half and then develop your own trading method based on what you notice happening in the market. Concentrate on developing a winning mindset and getting in tune with the market you trade. The first half of this book should be kept and reread regularly.
  • Kos:
I purchased the Trading Chaos ebook because I was trading with a method that used the awesome oscillator. I figured I should know something about the person who created it. I got much more than that. The book helped me to quit focusing on trading techniques and to start looking at my own mental state for trading. Turning inward has allowed me to build better confidence in myself and my method. That in turn allows me to trade with a mindset which successful traders have. The fact that the book also presents a very viable trading method is just an added bonus. This book and “Trading In The Zone” by Mark Douglas transformed my trading career.
  • Benjamin Sobieck:
I read the first edition of Trading Chaos before I read this second edition, and I’m glad I did. The two complement each other. If you’re new to trading, get a copy of the first before you read the second. The majority of the Trading Chaos ebook addresses trading psychology. Be prepared for that, because the “real advice” starts around the midpoint. But it’s all real advice, really, and it’s worth considering what the authors are really trying to say. The first edition is also valuable for this reason. If you’re interested in the Chaos Theory portion, don’t miss some of the live lectures Bill did that are up on YouTube. Really interesting stuff. I like his argument about the market is a natural construction rather than an artificial one. If you can wrap your head around that, a lot of the other points become downright spooky.

I’m grateful to have stumbled upon the first edition, those videos, and now this book. It’s helped a lot. RIP, Bill.

  • W. Stewart:
I have been learning to spread bet since march 09 using various strategies with varying degrees of success. I brought this book and New trading dimensions by Bill Williams and put into play his strategies. my profit has slowly increased and losing trades becoming less. Anybody who is struggling with their trading would do well to read this book. the book is well written, however, the charts are in black and white so I have graded it as a 4 star. I would give it 5 stars if they were in color.
  • Mark Pescatrice:
You either get Bill Williams or you don’t. I have found his writings, and this ebook, in particular, to offer a lot of excellent actionable concepts.
Some of his concepts may seem esoteric, but his technical indicators are pure gold. If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, you will be rewarded.
Recommended for any serious trader’s bookshelf.
  • Sarah A:
Ace. now to get cracking; I’m very excited to have this bible to hand and for Mr. William’s insight. Hope for the future indeed.
  • Leigh Duffy:
An older book with an older theory, but the ebook is hugely insightful about how a theory can be developed and the principles and math are easy to get with any college degree.
  • David:
This is a great trading ebook. One of the best ones that I have read in a long time. Very good info on getting your mind in the right place for trading.
  • Peter:
The authors of this book not only address how the markets can be traded profitably, but how you can personally profit from the markets, if you are open to changing your underlying thoughts about the market, and they will guide you through this process of change. If you what to start your journey to really be one with the markets, this is a guide which will certainly help you! May all that you wish for be the least that you receive.
  • Perry:
Trading Chaos ebook provides a clear and concise explanation of Bill William’s trading indicators and the relationship of these with Elliott waves and trading psychology. An excellent read for serious traders.
  • Michael Harston:
The first time reading the Trading Chaos ebook I started using the Alligator indicator and started making money in my trading. It was simple and easy to do and also do not forget to train your mind in the process he talks about.
